Watch this step-by-step process of repairing a “star break”, a common type of damage found on windshields. The star of this video is a Delta Kits professional windshield repair system.
In this video, we demonstrate how to properly repair a star break, a common type of windshield damage.
First, the technician probes the damaged area to make sure there is no debris or moisture in the break. Then, the technician places the B300 bridge on the windshield, and injects the resin. The technician begins the first 5 minute pressure cycle, and then goes into a 30 second vacuum cycle. Then, the technician goes into another 3 minute pressure cycle, followed by a 30 second vacuum cycle. For optimal results, Delta Kits recommends that you do 3 to 4 pressure cycles and 2 to 3 vacuum cycles, unless more cycles are necessary to remove all of the air from the break.
Once the air has been removed from the windshield break, the technician removes the bridge.
Then, the technician applies pit resin, a curing tab, and then applies the UV light to cure the area for 5 minutes. Once the repair has cured, the technician makes the repair flush with the glass by removing excess pit resin with a razor blade. Finally, the technician applies pit polish with a paper towel.
At the end of the video, we show a comparison of the glass before, and after the repair.
