In the glass industry, cork has long been recognized for its polishing qualities and when used with Delta Kits’ 30400 Premium Pit Polish, cork produces just enough friction to warm the surface of the cured pit resin to produce a high gloss finish with minimal effort. Shape, size, and insignia on corks purchased from Delta Kits may vary but will not affect usability.

Question:

Is it necessary to “prime” a surface chip? Such as with a thin resin before using Premium Pit or Premium Pit Plus resin to polish?

Answer:

A satisfactory repair to a surface chip can be made using only Premium Pit Plus Resin and Premium Pit Polish however we do recommend coating the surface of a surface pit with a low viscosity fill resin like MagniBond Resin. It is not necessary to prime but a low viscosity resin will wick into the scratches. This improves the appearance of the repair. It is also not necessary to polish with a cork but doing so may Continue Reading

Question:

What types of glass scratches can Delta Kits polishing compound remove?

Answer:

Delta Kits Cerium Oxide and polishing head can be used effectively to remove light scratches from windshields, mirrors, residential plate glass windows, and other non-tempered glass. In some cases cerium oxide may be able to remove scratches from hardened or tempered glass but it is much more difficult and therefore not recommended. The polishing head features a dense, wool-felt wheel mounted to an aluminum adapter plate. The wheel features a 1″ x 3″ with a 5/8” arbor and 1/4″ shank adapter so it attaches easily to a high-quality polisher or variable speed electric drill. Delta Kits’ cerium oxide is a high-grade extra fine abrasive. Glass and mirror manufacturers use cerium oxide for edge and surface polishing.
