Once the rain sensor is relocated and is operational, the technician can proceed with the repair. On several other designs such as the BMW and the Mercedes, the rain sensor is precisely located in an opening in the paint band which does not permit an opportunity to relocate the sensor. For these types of rain sensor design windshields that have a break over the sensor, it is best to replace the windshield instead of trying to repair it.
