Tech Tip: Simple Moisture Evaporator Maintenance

If you’ve had a Delta Kits moisture evaporator for a significant length of time (and if not you should definitely get one!), it may be time for a tune up. Although the moisture evaporator typically works flawlessly for many years, at some point you may begin to notice that it just doesn’t seem to get or stay as hot as it once did. Not to worry, with some simple maintenance you can have it working like a champ again.

You’ll need some a sheet of 600 grit or finer sandpaper or an emery board of the same grit, and a #6 Tri-Groove socket to remove the bolt. That’s it.

The first step is to loosen the bolt that sits just in front of the contact button. This will allow you to remove the element housing and shroud. The wire lead will tether the element to the handle at this point; there’s no need to undo this connection. Remove the spring to expose the contact on the element and sand away any corrosion or dirt that may have accumulated over time.

Reassembly is a snap. Fix the spring back in place, re-seat the contact button assembly, and tighten the screw. By taking care of your tools, they will take care of you!
